|Naginata tanto -- 11" blade.
I made the blade and added antique mountings. Tsuba (guard) and Tsuka (hilt) Fuchi, kashira, menuki were acquired as a set and fitted. The mountings date from the 15th century. The tang of my blade is fitted in the tsuka which is wrapped in ray skin and bound in blue silk cord. The pommels are called fuchi and kashira and are of engraved bronze. The blade cross-section is maru-gitae with an iorimune blade back. The heat-treat line, or hamon is omidare.
My Iado teacher is Masakazu Tazaki; my knife making instructor is Bob Engnath.
